Preparing for Soccer Camp

Soccer camp is always a highlight to our summer every year and this year is no different.  If you aren’t familiar with soccer camp, let me tell you a little bit about it.  Soccer camp is a one week program that we host for kids ages 9 to 14.  We host this camp at Redeemer University inside their soccer dome.  We provide lunches and transportation for all the kids that attend and they will receive a jersey that they get to keep. And as with all of our programs, we share the gospel with these kids.  Some who may have heard it before but most who are hearing it for the very first time. And the best part about this camp is that it’s FREE!  This is because of the many different partnerships that we have formed over the years and we would like to take this opportunity to highlight them.

One of those partners is CityKidz who helps supply transportation for all of our participants to and from camp for the whole week. What CityKidz also helps us with is inviting kids to our camp.  They seek out kids who wouldn’t otherwise have a summer camp opportunity and invite them to attend our camp for the week. This is a very valuable partnership to us because it ensures that we are providing this camp experience to those who really need it. And CityKidz doesn’t stop there.  Because they strongly believe in what we are doing, they also help us pay for the dome rental as well. What a generous organization and we absolutely love working with them in this way.

The Creek Community Church has been either running or financially supporting soccer camp for now 10 years! They love nothing more than to be a part of giving kids a chance to have a fun experience and hear the Good News of Jesus. They financially support the week so that all of the campers are able to attend and they also send volunteers to help with anything that needs to be done for the kids to have a great time.

Another one of our partners as of this year is Pineland Church in Burlington.  This church reached out to us in search of finding a project that their VBS camp could support this summer.  I had the chance to meet with Carol who is in charge of missions and outreach and Pineland and we put together a plan to help raise money for soccer camp.  I attended the first day of VBS and had a chance to talk to each of the kids about soccer camp and why we were raising money for this. Pineland was able to raise a lot of money for camp and is sending 6 kids this summer!  We are so grateful for their heart for others and encouraging their church community to take care of those in need in this way.

Lastly is our coach partnership with Athletes in Action.  Every year they send us a few coaches to help with our soccer skills and drills.  It is evident that these coaches have a passion for sports, but more importantly they have a passion for the kids they come in contact with.  Their energy and excitement helps to keep us going through the week.

We are very much looking forward to camp starting in just a few days and we are hoping that you would be willing to keep us in your prayers.  Please pray that we will have an impact on the kids that are attending and pray for each of the kids attending that their eyes and hearts would be opened to the Gospel that we will be sharing with them.
